Decatur County Memorial Hospital is bringing back its largest annual free health event on June 4, turning Greensburg Elementary School into a one-stop checkup site for residents who may be putting off routine care because of cost, time or access.

The Healthy Fair will run from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Greensburg, Indiana, and DCMH says attendees will be able to get free health screenings, meet with DCMH experts, connect with community partners and vendors, talk with DCMH providers, pick up health resources, enter to win door prizes and tour the Cancer Prevention Expo Hall.

That mix matters in a county where preventive care can slip down the list behind work schedules, school runs and the simple challenge of getting to appointments. By offering screenings and face-to-face conversations in one morning, the hospital is trying to make it easier for families to spot problems before they become more serious and more expensive.

DCMH has described Healthy Fair as its largest annual free health event, and the size of the turnout in recent years shows why. The 2025 fair, held June 5 at Greensburg Elementary School, drew more than 520 community members and provided more than 670 free health screenings. In 2024, DCMH called the event its 16th annual Healthy Fair and said it served more than 270 community members while offering lipid profile, complete blood count, A1C, thyroid and vision screenings.

The event has also become a familiar part of the local calendar over time. A 2019 DCMH event listing identified that year’s Healthy Fair as the 12th annual event, underscoring how long the hospital has used the fair to bring basic prevention services into the community.

DCMH’s 2025 program also included expert presentations, including a talk on lung health from Lauren Karbowski, FNP-C. The hospital said the fair is a true community effort designed to strengthen access to trusted care throughout Decatur County, and this year’s event continues that approach with providers, partners and screenings gathered under one roof at Greensburg Elementary.
