Castle Rock Sex Offender Flees Before Sentencing After Child Assault Conviction
Jorge Alberto Campos, convicted of assaulting a child for years, cut off his ankle monitor and vanished before his guilty verdict was read in Douglas County Court.

Jorge Alberto Campos, 45, of Castle Rock walked away from a Douglas County courtroom a free man for the last time Friday, skipping the reading of his jury verdict and discarding his ankle monitor in a dumpster near his home. By the time jurors had convicted him on five counts of sexual assault on a child as part of a pattern of abuse, Campos was gone.
Authorities found the ankle monitor discarded in a dumpster near his Castle Rock residence after he failed to appear for the verdict. The 23rd Judicial District Attorney's Office and Castle Rock Police have issued a warrant for his arrest and are asking the public to call 911 if they see him.
"There is a child rapist on the loose in our community. This gutless predator not only preyed upon a child ... but then fled from accountability. We want him back so he can serve out the lengthy prison sentence he has earned," District Attorney George Brauchler said in a prepared statement.
The conviction followed a four-day trial in Douglas County Court centered on Campos' repeated sexual assaults of his then-girlfriend's daughter. The abuse began in 2021 when the girl was 11 years old and continued through 2023. The child testified at trial, and a medical examination conducted after one of the assaults produced evidence confirming she had been victimized. Campos was arrested in 2024 after the accusations came to light.
Deputy District Attorney Brynn Chase, in a prepared statement, addressed the toll the case took on the victim: "She was violated, villainized, and voiceless and faced unimaginable trauma with remarkable strength."
If captured and sentenced, Campos faces mandatory prison time and could receive a sentence as long as life in prison. A judge is expected to take up the question of bail revocation at a hearing next week, though that proceeding will be moot unless Campos is located. Note: most sources list Campos' age as 45, though one media report cited his age as 42; the 23rd Judicial District Attorney's Office release lists him as 45.
Anyone who sees Campos is asked to call 911 immediately.
