Douglas County deputies are asking residents to help identify a thin male seen in a gray hoodie, red jogger pants and slides or sandals after attempted front-door kicks damaged homes in Sierra Ridge and Stepping Stone. In two incidents on Big Stone Circle and Fort Worth Court, investigators said the force left glass and security screens damaged, cracked door jambs and, in some cases, doors left slightly ajar.

The reports span May 2 and May 3 and point to more than a single careless knock or prank. By naming two neighborhoods and two separate streets, the sheriff’s office is treating the cases as part of a broader pattern of attempted break-ins, not an isolated disturbance. One photo from an incident was also released as investigators try to narrow down who was involved and whether the same person hit multiple homes.

The biggest concern is how quickly an attempted door kick can turn into something far more dangerous if a resident is home or opens the door. Even when no one is hurt, the damage to the front entry can leave families rattled and wary about what might have happened if the suspect had gotten inside. The case also fits a wider door-kick challenge trend that has surfaced in Denver and other places, including Goodyear, Arizona, raising the possibility that copycat behavior could be driving some of these confrontations.

Residents with private video surveillance are being asked to check doorbell cameras, home-security systems and any overnight footage from the affected dates. Deputies said tips and relevant video should be sent to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP and should reference case number 2026-00039517. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office also maintains a public crime map and says private surveillance video can help solve crimes, a reminder that even a few seconds of footage from a front porch or driveway may be enough to connect the dots across Sierra Ridge and Stepping Stone.
