Vehicle Crashes Into Cottonwood Neighborhood Home in Highlands Ranch; No Injuries Reported
An SUV ran off the road in Highlands Ranch’s Cottonwood neighborhood and crashed into two homes, ending halfway into the second; South Metro crews shored up the structure and no one was hospitalized.

An SUV went off the road and struck two houses in the Cottonwood neighborhood of Highlands Ranch, Douglas County, ending halfway into the second home, South Metro Fire Rescue said after crews arrived just after 2:15 p.m. Friday. The driver was evaluated at the scene and, as of about 3:30 p.m., no one had been taken to the hospital, officials reported.
Douglas County Sheriff's deputies closed the intersection of Sweet Clover Way and Sedge Way while South Metro technical rescue crews worked to shore up the damaged house, according to officials and local posts. The crash location was described as near Parker and the E-470 and Parker Road corridor, placing it within the eastern edge of Highlands Ranch where Sweet Clover Way connects several residential streets.
South Metro’s technical rescue team performed structural stabilization on the second home after the vehicle came to rest partly inside the building, emergency personnel said. Officials described the response steps and the shoring operation but said "it's not clear why the crash happened," leaving the cause under investigation by Douglas County deputies and fire-rescue teams.
A local social-media post from Colorado Weather & Traffic Alerts, which shared scene photos, summarized the incident with the caption "Not the garage. Vehicle crashes into house in Cottonwood neighborhood." The post noted deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and South Metro Fire Rescue were on scene and included multiple images showing the SUV and structural damage; 9NEWS and Yahoo also posted video and photos tied to the same response.

One truncated original report included an uncorroborated line about a 76-year-old driver "reportedly" losing control, but that age and any medical or criminal causes have not been confirmed by South Metro or the sheriff’s office. No sources provided damage estimates, displacement counts, or an official building-safety determination; South Metro’s shoring work indicates crews treated the structure as compromised pending further inspection.
Investigators from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and South Metro Fire Rescue were handling the scene and continuing to determine the sequence of events that led to the SUV leaving the roadway and striking the homes. Sweet Clover Way and Sedge Way remained closed while emergency crews completed stabilization and cleared debris, and officials said they would provide updates when additional information is available.
