Huntingburg farmers market opens Saturday for 2026 season

Huntingburg’s weekend market opened Saturday at the Market Pavilion in Market Street Park, giving Dubois County shoppers a familiar downtown stop for fresh produce and locally made goods as the summer season got underway.

Destination Huntingburg said the 2026 Huntingburg Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. through Oct. 3. The market is set up at 310 N. Main Street in Market Street Park, just south of 4th Street in downtown Huntingburg.

The season’s setup was already in motion weeks earlier. Destination Huntingburg held a vendor meeting on May 20 at 5 p.m. at Market Street Park as it prepared for the new market year. Destination Huntingburg, a nonprofit established in 2014, organizes the market along with a number of other downtown events.

Visit Dubois County describes the market as a place to support local farmers and vendors selling fresh produce and locally made products. That makes the Saturday morning market more than a place to browse stalls. It also gives growers, bakers and home-based sellers a steady summer outlet while keeping shoppers close to the downtown businesses that depend on weekend foot traffic.

The timing matters for Huntingburg’s seasonal rhythm. Early June is when local produce starts broadening and outdoor events begin filling county calendars, and the farmers market is one of the clearest signs that the summer routine has returned. For families looking for a local Saturday outing, the market offers a simple option: arrive in the morning, shop local and move on with the rest of the day still open.

The setting adds to the draw. Market Street Park sits beside Huntingburg’s historic downtown core, and the city’s 4th Street district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. That connection gives the market a place in one of the community’s best-known public spaces, where shopping and local history meet in the same block.

The market has also been a recurring part of Huntingburg’s calendar for years. A 2011 Dubois County Free Press report showed the season running from June 2 to October 13 with an opening time of 7:30 a.m., a sign that while the schedule has changed, the market’s role in the city’s summer routine has held steady.
