Cumming Arts Center Recognized for Community Impact, Youth Outreach
The Cumming Arts Center was honored in the Best of 2025 local series for its outreach, programming and school partnerships, a recognition that highlights the center's role in sustaining arts activity across Forsyth County. For residents, the acknowledgment underscores how volunteer driven programs and collaborations with Forsyth Schools bolstered arts education and community engagement during 2025.

As 2025 came to a close, the Cumming Arts Center was singled out in the Best of 2025 series on December 17, receiving local recognition for its outreach, programming and partnerships with Forsyth Schools. The nomination submitted by Marilyn DeCusati praised the center for inspiring creativity across age groups and for the volunteers and programs that helped sustain arts activities in Forsyth County during 2025.
The recognition reflects a year in which the Arts Center expanded its role beyond performances and exhibitions to become a hub for arts education and community programming. Partnerships with Forsyth Schools brought classroom connections into the center, creating cross generational programming that reached students from elementary grades through high school. Those school collaborations helped integrate arts learning into standard curricula and provided additional hands on opportunities for youth at a low cost to families.
For the local economy and civic life the center’s work matters in several ways. Consistent, volunteer supported programming maintained cultural offerings that attract families and visitors, supporting nearby small businesses and local vendors that benefit from events and workshops. The center’s activities also contribute to workforce development in creative fields, offering practical skills and experience for teens and young adults who may pursue arts related careers or entrepreneurship.

From a policy perspective, the recognition can strengthen the center’s case when applying for grants and municipal support. Public and private funders commonly weigh community reach and school partnerships when allocating arts education dollars. Demonstrable K through 12 engagement and a stable volunteer base improve the center’s prospects for sustainability as local governments and foundations prioritize programs that produce measurable educational and social outcomes.
Looking ahead, sustaining momentum will require continued collaboration among the Arts Center, Forsyth Schools, volunteers and local policymakers. For residents, the year end honor is a reminder that community institutions can expand access to creative learning, preserve cultural life and support local economic activity when programming, partnerships and public support align.
