Forsyth County commissioners approved a $44.6 million master plan Thursday to overhaul Polo Fields Park, the 6050 Majors Road property in west Forsyth that the county acquired in the summer of 2022.

The plan, designed by contracted firm Lose Design, reflects years of community input and aims to transform the site into a recreational hub while preserving its historical roots as a former polo venue. District 3 Commissioner Todd Levent, whose district includes the park, emphasized the need to balance community feedback with maintaining the site's core athletic functions throughout the planning process.

Among the centerpiece upgrades are improvements to the park's existing soccer fields, which currently serve more than 2,200 players, with high-quality turf installations designed to allow year-round play. Levent had previously outlined the community's priorities, citing demand for turf fields, adequate parking, and a range of new features including a small amphitheater, tennis and pickleball courts, a dog park, an additional multipurpose athletic field, an event pavilion, and a meandering tree-lined trail.

The draft master plan was released January 2, 2026, and the county held public input sessions, including a meeting on January 14, to gather final community feedback before bringing the plan to a commission vote.

The park, located in west Forsyth, will receive a variety of new amenities that residents directly requested. Parks and Recreation Director Kirk Franz and County Manager David McKee were both involved in shaping the scope of improvements alongside Levent.

With Thursday's approval, Polo Fields Park moves from years of planning into the construction phase, giving one of west Forsyth's most-used recreational properties a long-awaited transformation.
