Forsyth County turned the parking area at Central Park Recreation Center into a low-cost marketplace Saturday, giving families a free place to shop, declutter and trade one person’s extras for another’s everyday needs. More than 20 vendors were expected at the sale, which ran from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2300 Keith Bridge Rd. in Cumming.
The mix of merchandise fit the kind of weekend errand many households can use. County notices said shoppers could expect household goods, children’s items, tools and other secondhand items, the sort of practical finds that can stretch a budget when new prices keep climbing. Admission was free, making the sale one of the easier ways for families, bargain hunters and casual browsers to spend a Saturday morning without paying to get in.

Forsyth County Parks & Recreation has repeatedly used the Central Park site for the community yard sale, with notices appearing over several years, including 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021. Later county notices described it as an annual event and said a previous yard sale had been a success, signaling that this was not a one-time cleanup but a recurring local marketplace that has settled into the county’s calendar.

Jim Pryor, the parks and recreation director, said the yard sale was a great opportunity for spring cleaning and shopping. County publicity also said the event had grown into a very popular event for both sellers and shoppers. That matters in a fast-growing county where many public gatherings lean toward big festivals or sports tournaments; this one offered something simpler, a low-barrier chance to move usable goods back into circulation and bring neighbors together at a county facility they already know.

Residents seeking details were directed to Forsyth County Parks & Recreation at (678) 455-8540, while earlier notices listed (770) 781-2215. The repeated use of Central Park Recreation Center for the sale showed how a small, practical event can still serve a bigger purpose: helping households clean out, save money and find useful items close to home.
