Forsyth to Reveal Polo Fields Park Master Plan Draft
Forsyth County Parks & Recreation will unveil the draft master plan for Polo Fields Park at a public input meeting on Jan. 14, giving residents a chance to review proposed improvements and weigh in before county decision-makers consider adoption in spring 2026. The plan, shaped by a Fall 2025 community survey and October public feedback, outlines potential upgrades that would affect youth sports, parking, and recreational amenities on the park’s 39 acres.

Forsyth County will present the draft master plan update for Polo Fields Park at a community input meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the Midway Park Community Building, 5100 Post Road. The draft reflects results from a Fall 2025 online survey and an October in-person public input meeting and will be posted online at the Polo Fields Park webpage the same day. Residents may offer comments in-person at the meeting or online beginning Jan. 14.
The Polo Fields Park property at 6050 Majors Road covers approximately 39 acres and was acquired by the county in the summer of 2022. It is best known for polo matches in the 1980s and today hosts a youth soccer program that serves more than 2,200 players on a regular basis. Lose Design has been contracted to lead development of the master plan design, and the Parks & Recreation board provided recommendations that informed the draft.
Planning officials say the draft balances preserving active athletic uses with introducing new amenities. “With a highly desirable location, iconic history and active soccer program, serving over 2,200 players on a regular basis, Polo Fields Park was one of the most challenging, yet valuable, properties for Forsyth County to acquire,” said Forsyth County District 3 Commissioner Todd Levent. “Having heard from the public at many town hall and HOA meetings over the years, I know there’s interest in maintaining the soccer fields, improving a few with turf, adequate parking and exploring some new features like a small amphitheater, tennis/pickleball courts, a dog park, an additional multi-purpose athletic field, a pavilion for events, and a meandering trail with trees.”

Forsyth County Director of Parks & Recreation Kirk Franz emphasized community participation in final design choices. "This park belongs to the community, and your voice matters in shaping its future," he said. The finalized draft will be presented to the Board of Commissioners in a work session during spring 2026 for discussion and possible adoption.
Local impacts include potential changes to field surfaces, parking capacity and new programmed spaces that could expand youth and adult recreation, create event opportunities, and alter maintenance and long-term operating costs. A countywide 10-year Master Plan update is proceeding in parallel through a multi-phased engagement process; the online survey and additional information are available at forsythco.com/yourparks. Residents who use Polo Fields Park for sports, dog walking, or community events should attend the Jan. 14 meeting or review the draft online to ensure their priorities are considered before the county moves toward adoption.
