Lambert Longhorns, West Forsyth Wolverines Square Off in April Baseball Series
West Forsyth senior Colton Sweat and the Wolverines face Lambert in back-to-back Region 6-6A games Tuesday and Thursday, with playoff seeding directly on the line.

West Forsyth senior Colton Sweat helped the Wolverines sweep North Atlanta last week, and now comes the stiffest test of the spring: back-to-back Region 6-6A matchups with the Lambert Longhorns on April 7 and April 9 that will carry real weight in the postseason seeding race.
The two programs meet on alternating home fields across Tuesday and Thursday in a series that ranks as one of the most closely watched spring baseball rivalries along the Forsyth-Gwinnett line. Lambert, based in Suwanee and led by head coach David Smart, has been building a strong 2026 spring and enters the series as a genuine threat to West Forsyth's region standing. Smart's program carries the credentials of a 2014 GHSAA 6A state championship and has remained a consistent presence in Region 6-6A.
West Forsyth, in its third season under head coach Tom Kratowicz, arrives riding momentum. The Wolverines put up a 13-5 win over North Atlanta to close out their sweep earlier this week, demonstrating an offense capable of scoring in volume. Sweat, one of the team's most productive seniors and a standout in that series, will be a focal point for Lambert's pitching staff across both games.
Region standings in 6-6A accumulate result by result, and the outcome of this two-game set could move either team meaningfully in the bracket. Teams holding top seeds avoid the most difficult first-round draws in the state playoffs; programs that slip in critical mid-April series spend the final weeks of the regular season trying to recover ground they could not afford to lose.

College recruiters regularly attend Lambert-West Forsyth matchups, drawn by the caliber of players both programs routinely develop. MaxPreps tracks box scores, pitching lines and individual season stats for both clubs, giving scouts a real-time window into how players perform under region pressure.
The series opener Tuesday sets the tone for the week: Kratowicz will need to decide how aggressively to deploy his rotation with another game just two days later, while Lambert's lineup will look to generate early offense against a Wolverine staff that has kept opposing bats quiet through the early season.
