Clovis Residents Warned as Holiday Porch Pirate Videos Surface
A series of social media videos posted December 2 showed a man posing as a delivery driver stealing packages in the Harlan Ranch neighborhood of Clovis, prompting resident concern and police warnings. The incidents highlight risks to holiday deliveries, the safety of children, and the need for residents to document and report suspicious activity.

On December 2 neighbors in the Harlan Ranch community of Clovis alerted police after social media videos circulated showing a man dressed as a delivery driver taking packages from porches and community mail areas. The videos prompted fears about package and mail theft during the holiday season and triggered outreach from Clovis Police urging residents to report suspicious activity.
Longtime Harlan Ranch resident Steve Gejeian described seeing the footage and the effect it has had on his neighborhood. "Ok, that's crazy because that's behind me, right there. Yeah, that is on the street behind me," he said. Gejeian, who has lived in the area about 11 years, said the incidents have heightened concerns for families. "It looks like they're showing up in the zip-up yellow jacket, which is deceptive. With our kids, it makes me a little nervous," he said. Gejeian also reported that a community mailbox he uses was recently broken into. "It's very disturbing because a lot of personal information. Bills, a lot of things come in the mail that you're concerned about," he said.
Clovis Police stressed the importance of documenting suspicious behavior and contacting authorities. "If it's under $950, it's considered misdemeanor petty theft," Sgt. Nathan Jaime said. "If it's over $950, it's considered grand theft, which is a felony." Officials added that at minimum a person could spend at least a year in jail for stealing mail and or packages if charged and convicted.
The incidents carry immediate implications for residents who will be receiving holiday deliveries over the next weeks. Visible deception that mimics legitimate delivery attire raises safety concerns for households with children and for anyone retrieving packages. Police advised residents to make sure security cameras are not obscured by holiday decorations and to gather as much identifying information as possible if they witness theft before contacting authorities.
These cases underscore the intersection of routine consumer behavior and public safety during peak delivery periods. For Clovis officials the events reinforce the need for timely reporting, clear evidence collection, and community awareness to support prosecution and deter future thefts. Neighbors say the crimes are not only costly but also erode trust, with one resident adding, "It's one thing to lose the stuff, but that someone else would do that to you. I think it stabs at the heart a little bit.
