Body Found in West Creek Woods, No Foul Play Suspected, Deputies Say
A body found Sunday in the wooded edges of West Creek near Wilkes Ridge Parkway has been sent to the state medical examiner; deputies say there is no threat to the public.

Deputies responding to a call about a possible deceased person in eastern Goochland County on Sunday morning found a body in a wooded area along the 1600 block of Wilkes Ridge Parkway, within the West Creek development off Broad Street.
The Goochland County Sheriff's Office received the report at approximately 10:45 a.m. on March 15. Deputies searched the woods and located the remains of an unknown individual. The body was then transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond, where identification and an autopsy to determine the cause of death are pending.
"There are no signs of foul play and no apparent threat to the public," deputies said in a statement posted to the Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
West Creek, situated near the Henrico County line in eastern Goochland, encompasses office parks and an apartment complex along the West Broad Street corridor. The wooded stretch where the body was found sits within that development, though no further details about the precise location or the condition of the remains have been released.
The identity of the deceased has not been confirmed. No cause of death has been determined, and no arrests or charges have been filed. The Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division is handling the investigative follow-up while the medical examiner's office works to complete identification.
Some commenters on the Sheriff's Office Facebook post noted that earlier reports from the scene had characterized the death as suspicious, but official statements from deputies have consistently described the preliminary finding as showing no signs of foul play.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Goochland County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division at 804-556-5349 or Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000. The investigation remains active pending results from the medical examiner.
