Goochland County Celebrates Developmental Services Awareness Day, Monacan Talent Show March 20

Goochland County's official calendar and weekly newsletter are spotlighting Developmental Services Awareness Day and the Monacan Services Talent Show this Friday, March 20, at the Landmark Center, 4290 Anderson Highway in Powhatan. The free public event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is organized by the Goochland-Powhatan Community Services Board.

The day is designed to draw attention to programs serving individuals with developmental disabilities and families of infants and toddlers who need support. "This special event will highlight the amazing services and resources available to individuals with developmental disabilities and families of infants and toddlers in need of support in our community," the Goochland-Powhatan Community Services Board wrote in its event description. "We'll have informational tables where organizations can share their services, plus a talent show featuring the incredible abilities of those we serve."

The centerpiece of the afternoon is the Monacan Services Talent Show, scheduled for 1 p.m. Attendees are welcome to arrive at any point during the four-hour window. The event also includes a food truck, prizes and games, and networking opportunities with community organizations, according to a Powhatan County Facebook post sharing the event graphic.

Powhatan County echoed the invitation on its own social channels, calling the talent show "not to be missed." The event is free and open to the public.

Goochland-Powhatan Community Services Board operates a range of programs across both counties, including Developmental Services Case Management, Monacan Services, Behavioral Health and Wellness, the Parent-Infant Education Program, In-Home Support Services, Mental Health Case Management, Outpatient Services, Same Day Access, and Pathways Recovery Center.
