Goochland County honors 11 Scouts for earning Eagle rank

A picnic table at Goochland Parks and Recreation now gives visitors a place to sit, a small but visible result of the kind of service work 11 local Scouts were honored for on June 2. The Goochland County Board of Supervisors recognized the Eagles during its regular 3 p.m. meeting in Board Room 250 at 1800 Sandy Hook Road.

Their projects turned months of planning and construction into improvements residents can use. Among the projects tied to the group were park benches at Bellemeade Park, a rainwater collection system at Bellemeade Park and a picnic table for Goochland Parks and Recreation. Those are the kinds of upgrades that help park users, recreation staff and nearby community groups without requiring them to fund the work from scratch.

Isaac, Kyhl and Auggie attended the meeting to represent their fellow Scouts. The June 2 session appeared on Goochland County’s published 2026 meeting calendar, and the agenda and video were posted through the county’s meeting portal, which archives and indexes board meetings for later searching.

The recognition showed the practical value of Eagle projects in Goochland: built assets, not just awards. Eleven Scouts translated years of volunteer effort into public-facing improvements that county departments, local nonprofits or park users otherwise would have had to pay for themselves. For families who use Bellemeade Park and county recreation spaces, the return is tangible every time they sit, gather or move through those spaces.
