Sixty acres tucked off Maidens Road in western Goochland County hold more than most residents might expect: lighted baseball diamonds, youth soccer fields, nature trails, a disc golf course, a basketball court and a dog park with its own trail connection to the county animal shelter. Hidden Rock Park, at 1920 Hidden Rock Lane in the Maidens area, is the county's primary multi-use outdoor recreation facility and one of its most heavily used.

The park divides into two distinct zones. The northern section centers on organized athletics: two youth baseball fields and two full-size baseball and softball diamonds, all lighted for evening play, along with covered batting cages, an asphalt basketball court, a volleyball court, restrooms and concession facilities. The southern end opens into several youth-sized soccer fields that host recreational leagues each season.

Beyond the manicured fields, marked nature trails wind through wooded terrain that has made the park a regular destination for trail runners and hikers. The Hidden Rock disc golf layout, listed on the course-tracking platform UDisc, routes players through a moderately hilly wooded course with creek crossings. Because the course weaves near athletic fields and playground spaces, the county asks players and trail users to stay on marked paths and give way during scheduled league play, when parking can fill quickly on evenings and weekends.

The Hidden Rock Bark, the park's fenced dog area, connects by trail directly to the Goochland County animal shelter and adoption center, making it possible to walk a dog over for a visit with adoptable animals without leaving the property.

Goochland County Parks & Recreation manages Hidden Rock as part of a system that also includes the Goochland Sports Complex, Tucker Park and Leakes Mill Park. Fields and picnic shelters are available to rent through the Parks and Recreation office, and both youth and adult league registration runs through the same department. The park is open during daylight hours.

County plans call for further trail enhancements and additional disc golf development at the site, extensions of an outdoor recreation strategy that already draws hundreds of youth league participants each season.
