Manakin Road to close for pipe replacement in Goochland County

Goochland County closed Manakin Road for pipe replacement from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 21-22, shutting the road for two 10-hour workdays and affecting through-traffic. The county posted the notice on July 17, and the Virginia Department of Transportation’s Richmond District also carried the alert.

The closure mattered because Manakin Road serves as one of the local links drivers rely on across western Goochland. A daytime shutdown like this can force traffic onto narrower secondary roads and add time to routine trips, especially for people using the road as a connector rather than a destination.
