Relay For Life Seeks Volunteers, Teams for Goochland and Louisa Event

Cancer patients in Goochland and Louisa Counties receive help with transportation to treatment and lodging costs in part because of what happens at planning meetings like the one Relay For Life organizers held last Thursday.

The March 26 session brought together community members looking to start or join fundraising teams, take on logistics and marketing roles, or help coordinate activities ahead of the main Relay For Life event later in 2026. Organizers used the gathering to recruit team leaders, secure early sponsors, and begin logistics planning for the event itself, including site selection, entertainment, survivor recognition ceremonies, and fundraising tools.

The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life program channels money raised in communities back into those same communities. For Goochland and Louisa, that means funding local patient services such as transportation assistance and lodging programs for families facing a cancer diagnosis, alongside support for national cancer research.

Relay For Life depends on grassroots participation to reach those funding levels.
