Two Found Dead in Elk Rapids Township Home, No Public Threat Reported
A Traverse City woman, 49, is among two people found dead in an Elk Rapids Township home Wednesday; autopsies are pending and no public threat has been confirmed.

A 49-year-old Traverse City woman was among two people found dead inside a North Bayshore Drive home in Elk Rapids Township Wednesday morning, a discovery that drew investigators from the Antrim County Sheriff's Office, the Michigan State Police, and MMR Ambulance to the small lakeside community 15 miles north of the city where she lived.
Deputies arrived at the residence at 11:28 a.m. on April 1 following a report of two deceased individuals at the address. The second victim was a 49-year-old man who resided in Elk Rapids Township. Both identities remain withheld pending notification of their families.
Sheriff Kevin S. Hoch, a 28-year veteran of the Antrim County Sheriff's Office who was re-elected to the role in November 2024, confirmed in a press release that investigators found no threat to the public. The cause of death for both individuals is unknown; autopsies are pending with Dr. Paul Wagoner of the Mid-Michigan Medical Examiners Group, which has held Antrim County's medical examiner contract since 2021.

North Bayshore Drive runs along the east shore of Grand Traverse Bay in Elk Rapids Township, a community of 2,521 residents that includes the Village of Elk Rapids, the largest incorporated community in Antrim County. The drive south to Traverse City along US-31 takes roughly 20 minutes.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information relevant to the case can contact the Antrim County Sheriff's Office at (231) 533-8627.
