Greensboro Reports $4.7 Billion in Investment, Nearly 15,000 Jobs in 2025
Greensboro logged $4.74 billion in capital investment and nearly 15,000 jobs in 2025, led by aviation, manufacturing, and technology projects across Guilford County.

Greensboro's economy added more than $4.74 billion in capital investment and linked nearly 15,000 jobs to projects across the city in 2025, according to the Economic Development Office's annual Year in Review released March 17.
Aviation stood at the center of that growth. Jet Zero established its advanced manufacturing facility at Piedmont Triad International Airport, while Lenovo announced an expansion of its operations and Toyota began initial production at its battery manufacturing facility in Liberty. Food Lion also committed to a major investment in Burlington, adding regional momentum to the city's figures.
"Greensboro continued to build momentum as a competitive and reliable market for business in 2025," said Economic Development Manager Marshall Yandle. "The scale and diversity of projects announced and advanced during the year reflect growing confidence among employers, developers, and institutional partners in the City's economic fundamentals and operating environment."
Yandle credited growth that he said has been years in the making, involving nearly a dozen partners. "Long-term investments from the Piedmont Triad International Airport, the Greensboro urban loop, our investments in water and sewer, the investments from the community college — Guilford Tech — and some of the trainings that they do to support those industries," he said, also pointing to the Guilford County Economic Development Alliance as a key contributor.
Meredith Berger, director of existing industry services at the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce, noted that headline-grabbing recruits rarely drive the bulk of a community's economic output. "Most of the growth in your community doesn't necessarily come from the company that you're recruiting next," Berger said. "It will come from the companies who have already chosen you."
That dynamic played out across aviation's supply chain, where a single large employer can trigger hiring across suppliers, construction firms, and the service businesses that support a growing workforce. "Jobs lead to more jobs and lead to more jobs," said Moreland, who was cited in local coverage of the report.
The Year in Review also features the city's Road to 10,000 housing initiative, which the report includes alongside the economic development figures, signaling that workforce housing remains part of Greensboro's broader growth strategy.

Zooming out, a regional analysis covering a six-year span found that the Greensboro region recorded 177 economic development projects totaling 17,829 jobs and $18.7 billion in capital investment, with 2023 representing a single-year peak of 5,485 jobs and $11.1 billion. Those figures cover a broader regional footprint than the city's single-year totals and include 40 foreign direct investment projects from 14 countries, led by Japan with 10 projects.
