Greensboro Student Hospitalized After Legs Run Over by School Bus
A Southeast Guilford High School student slipped while running to catch his bus and had his legs run over on Montrose Drive Thursday morning.

A Southeast Guilford High School student was struck and had his legs run over by a Guilford County Schools bus Thursday morning after he missed the bus, ran to catch it, slipped and fell in its path, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The incident unfolded at 7:48 a.m. on Montrose Drive in Greensboro. The bus was en route to Kiser Middle School at the time and was carrying 13 students, Guilford County Schools confirmed. The Highway Patrol's account, reported by local television stations, describes the student running after the departing bus before losing his footing and falling under it.
Whether the student was hospitalized remains in dispute. Scott Muthersbaugh of Guilford County EMS told WFMY News 2 that "no one was taken to the hospital by EMS or treated for injuries on the scene." That account conflicts with a separate report indicating the student was hospitalized, though the mode of transport and receiving facility had not been confirmed as of Thursday morning. It is possible the student was transported to a hospital by private vehicle or a guardian rather than by EMS, but no source has confirmed that sequence.

The bus driver's condition also remains unconfirmed. One account claimed the driver was treated for a panic attack following the incident, but neither Guilford County EMS nor Guilford County Schools had publicly confirmed that detail. WXII 12 News said it reached out to Guilford County Schools for a statement.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating. A full incident report from the Patrol, along with an official statement from Guilford County Schools, would clarify the precise sequence of events on Montrose Drive, the extent of the student's injuries, and what medical care, if any, the driver received.
