Greensboro’s first Raising Cane’s opens May 22, hiring 140 workers
Raising Cane’s will hire 140 workers for Greensboro’s first store on West Wendover, with interviews beginning April 20 and doors set to open May 22.

Greensboro is about to gain its first Raising Cane’s, and the chain is making the opening a jobs story as much as a restaurant debut. The store at 4423 West Wendover Avenue is set to open May 22, and company hiring materials say it is looking to staff 140 positions before the doors swing open.
That makes the opening more than another fast-food arrival on a busy retail strip. West Wendover Avenue is one of Greensboro’s most important commercial corridors, already lined with shopping centers, restaurants and car traffic that keeps national brands visible and busy. A first-location chain like Raising Cane’s is betting that the corridor can support a large customer base, while also signaling that Greensboro remains attractive to companies expanding in the Triad.
The hiring push is broad. Interviews are scheduled daily from April 20 through May 9, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and applicants can also apply online through Raising Cane’s careers site. The company’s job listings for the Greensboro store show that the workforce will not be limited to entry-level crew jobs. A Restaurant Manager posting for the site, published February 23, lists initial hiring pay at $18.50 an hour. An Assistant General Manager posting offers starting pay from $65,000 annually, plus a $1,500 monthly training incentive.
Raising Cane’s has labeled the location “Wendover & Landmark” and “Coming Soon,” underscoring how closely the company is tying the Greensboro debut to its brand rollout. Founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, by Todd Graves in 1996, the chain has built a national identity around chicken fingers, Cane’s Sauce and heavy community outreach. The company says it supports more than 30,000 local organizations through partnerships, a pitch that fits the kind of opening-day programming planned in Greensboro.
That community angle is expected to show up at the May 22 grand opening. Local reporting has said 20 customers will be able to win free Cane’s for a year through a giveaway tied to the launch, part of the chain’s national “Lucky 20” promotion at select pre-opening events. The company also plans community-focused events and partnerships with local schools, sports teams and nonprofit groups.
For Greensboro, the bigger question is what comes after the ribbon cutting. A 140-worker hiring spree can provide real paychecks and managerial opportunities, but it also tests whether the jobs become stable additions to the local labor market or simply high-turnover service work. Either way, the arrival of Raising Cane’s on West Wendover is another visible sign that national chains still see room to grow in Guilford County.
