Guilford County is shifting its summer pool calendar in ways families will feel at the cash register and in their childcare plans. Bur-Mil Park, Hagan-Stone Park and Northeast Park will open on Memorial Day weekend with weekend-only hours from Saturday, May 23 through Sunday, June 7, then move to seven-day-a-week service starting Saturday, June 13, weather permitting.

The timing is slightly different from last summer. In 2025, Bur-Mil and Hagan-Stone went to daily hours on June 9, while Northeast Park did not switch to seven-day service until June 16. This year, Bur-Mil and Hagan-Stone are opening their daily schedules four days later than last year, while Northeast Park is opening three days earlier.

The price sheet is unchanged and still gives county pools a relatively low-cost place to beat the heat. Admission is $6 for guests age 13 and older, $5 for children 12 and under, and free for children under 2. Regular visitors can buy a seasonal pass for $40, which covers ten weekday admissions, not including holidays.

Each site offers a different draw for families trying to stretch a summer day. Hagan-Stone Park has a 22-foot slide with multiple turns, while Bur-Mil Park and Northeast Park have diving boards. All three aquatic centers are built as family-oriented facilities with beach-entry access, toddler slides and spray features, giving parents more than a lap lane and a splash pad to choose from.

The county also warned that two summer events will interrupt normal pool hours. Bur-Mil will close early for a swim meet, and Northeast Park in Gibsonville will close early for the annual Fireworks Extravaganza, one of the county’s bigger summer traditions. For parents lining up weekday camp pickups or weekend heat relief, those early closings can matter as much as the opening dates.

One major pool is still missing from the schedule. Lindley Pool in Greensboro remains closed while structural and mechanical improvements continue. City engineers found the sand-filter tanks had deteriorated beyond safe use, with up to 75% metal loss in some areas, and Greensboro says it has completed the bid process and selected a vendor for a replacement filter system that must meet Guilford County Health Department requirements for the pool’s 500,000-gallon capacity.

Guilford County says its park system also includes campgrounds, dog parks, lakes, tennis and pickleball courts, but the summer pool calendar remains one of the clearest gauges of how the county handles heat, recreation and family spending. Bur-Mil, a 250-acre park established in 1989 on the former Burlington Industries recreation facility next to Lake Brandt, remains one of the county’s most established warm-weather destinations.
