Guilford County man missing for 20 years near Greensboro

The Guilford County Sheriff's Office marked 20 years since Roy Maynard disappeared near Greensboro, saying he was last seen near Frazier Road and Groometown Road on May 7, 2004. He was reported missing three days later, on May 10, 2004, and would be 77 if living.

Maynard was living with family in Pleasant Garden at the time and operated a tree-cutting business, according to the sheriff’s office. Family members told investigators he had recently begun acting unusually, had stopped eating and was sleeping in his truck before he walked away from a residence near Frazier Road and Groometown Road and never returned.

The case remains a cold file tied to a specific stretch of Greensboro, not a vague disappearance somewhere outside the county.
