High Point Man Found Shot Dead Inside Wrecked Car Near Home

A 35-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside a wrecked vehicle that had crashed into a home in the 500 block of Anaheim Street in High Point, and he later died from his injuries, police said.

Officers discovered the man inside the damaged vehicle after the crash was reported at about 10 o'clock. The original incident report was truncated and did not specify whether the call came in during morning or evening hours. The Violent Crimes Unit of the High Point Police Department has opened a homicide investigation.

Police have not released the victim's name. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been announced in connection with the Anaheim Street shooting.

The incident is separate from another High Point homicide that occurred on March 20, in which Jonal N. Hodge, 22, was fatally shot inside a vehicle at the Oaks at Silver Ridge apartments in the 2900 block of East Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. In that case, investigators identified the shooter as Adrin K. Rome, 34, of Edenton, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound found inside a shed on Hendrix Street hours after the shooting. That death was described as the second homicide in High Point in 2026; it is not clear from available information where the Anaheim Street death falls in the city's 2026 homicide count.
