Fire damages Copperfield apartment complex, displaces at least 12 units
At least 12 apartments were emptied after a roof fire tore through Enclave at Copperfield, and crews kept FM 529 near Highway 6 tied up while rescuing pets and investigating the cause.

A roof fire at Enclave at Copperfield Apartments in northwest Harris County forced residents out of at least 12 units and sent emergency crews rushing to FM 529 near Highway 6, where traffic slowed as firefighters, deputies and EMS worked the scene.
The blaze broke out Tuesday afternoon at the complex at 15331 FM 529 Rd. in the Copperfield area, near Spencer Road. SkyEye13 images showed a smoking hole in the roof after the fire, and ground video captured flames tearing through the building as crews fought to bring it under control. Officials said the fire affected the entire building, not just one unit, raising the stakes for the families who live there and for nearby renters watching the damage spread.

No one was hurt, a significant relief in a fire that could have turned far worse in a packed apartment building. Several pets were rescued during the response, and cleanup was underway the next day as displaced residents began sorting out where they could stay and how long it might take before the building is safe again.
Crews first responded at 12:37 p.m. to the three-story complex, according to a report tied to the scene. One firefighter was treated on scene for a minor injury. Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies helped with traffic control while the Cy-Fair Fire Department warned drivers to expect emergency vehicles in the area as responders moved in and out of the complex.
The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating what started the fire. That matters for tenants across northwest Harris County, where apartment fires can quickly become a building-wide problem and leave families dealing with insurance claims, temporary housing and the loss of belongings even when the flames do not reach every unit.
Cy-Fair Fire Department’s workload shows how often crews in this part of the county are pulled into major emergencies. The department said it averaged 100 calls a day in April 2026 and logged 28 structure fires that month, a reminder that a fast-moving apartment fire in Copperfield can strain responders and disrupt whole blocks in a matter of minutes.
