Brooksville man arrested after fatal arrow shooting in shared compound

Deputies say a Brooksville argument among three people living at a compound on Arizona Street ended with 46-year-old Anthony Brian Adams firing a compound-bow arrow through a passenger-side window and killing a man.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called at 2:08 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, to 7245 Arizona St. after a report that someone had been struck in the neck. Investigators said a man and a woman drove up to the property, with the woman behind the wheel, and found Adams coming out of the home. What followed was a heated confrontation that turned deadly in front of the shared residence.

According to investigators, Adams retrieved a compound bow and fired an arrow through the passenger-side car window. Sheriff Al Nienhuis said the arrow struck the victim in the neck and that the man may have survived if the arrow had not been removed. Deputies characterized the case as a manslaughter charge tied to the death.

Local television coverage described the scene as a compound of several homes and trailers just north of Cortez Boulevard, underscoring that the shooting happened in a shared living arrangement rather than on a public street. The incident involved a dispute among three residents of the property, a detail that has sharpened the focus on who lived there, how the argument escalated, and whether warning signs had been missed before the fatal shot.

Anthony Brian Adams has also been described as a parolee with a known criminal history, and he was being held without bond after the shooting.
