Florida Highway Patrol upgraded a crash at Mondon Hill Road and McIntyre Road in Brooksville to a possible fatality, adding another serious incident to a corridor that has already seen deadly wrecks near Jasmine Drive. The final update did not list a roadblock, but the incident landed in a part of town where drivers have repeatedly faced crash scenes tied to speed, stop signs and vulnerable roadway users.

FHP’s live traffic incident system updates every five minutes, but fuller crash reports can take up to 10 days to become available under state law. That lag often leaves neighbors and commuters with only the first official details while investigators sort out exactly what happened at a busy intersection.

The Mondon Hill corridor has been under a brighter spotlight because of another fatal Brooksville crash on April 11 at Jasmine Drive and Mondon Hill Road. In that wreck, a 50-year-old Brooksville man was driving a Toyota Camry northbound on Jasmine Drive when, according to FHP, he entered the intersection despite a posted stop sign. The Camry struck a Harley-Davidson motorcycle ridden westbound by a 60-year-old Lady Lake man. Both were taken to area hospitals with serious injuries, and the motorcyclist later died.

That crash followed two other deadly collisions on the same road. On Jan. 22, 2026, a 39-year-old Brooksville woman was killed near Jasmine Drive when her Ford Taurus left the roadway and struck a tree. On Feb. 21, 2024, a 33-year-old Brooksville man died east of Soult Road in a motorcycle crash on Mondon Hill Road.

The repeated wrecks have given Mondon Hill Road a troubling record for Brooksville drivers, especially motorcyclists and scooter riders. Hernando County traffic-safety discussions in 2024 also pointed to rising motorcycle and scooter crashes, underscoring why every new serious wreck on this stretch draws immediate attention from residents, law enforcement and road-safety officials.

For drivers heading through Brooksville, the message is plain: Mondon Hill Road remains a place where one missed stop sign, one fast approach or one split-second lapse can carry life-or-death consequences, and the latest possible fatality could renew pressure for traffic changes on a road that keeps making the same dangerous point.
