Hernando Awards Tourism Grants, Funds Holiday and Music Events
On November 12, 2025 Hernando County’s tourism office announced recipients of the 2025 2026 tourism marketing grants, directing support to local festivals and concerts that aim to draw visitors and overnight stays. The awards matter to residents because expanded marketing can increase hotel occupancy, boost sales at restaurants and shops, and extend the county’s visitor season into winter and spring.

Hernando County’s tourism arm, Florida’s Adventure Coast Visitors Bureau, on November 12 announced the recipients of its 2025 2026 tourism marketing grants. The bureau said it prioritized events that generate overnight stays and align with its stewardship principles, a combination intended to bring more outside spending to local businesses while protecting community assets.
The roster of events receiving marketing support spans holiday celebrations, music festivals, and large scale gatherings that officials view as anchors for the county’s visitor calendar. Recipients include the Florida Winter Music Festival, Tunnel 2 Towers Unplugged for the Brave concert and remembrance weekend, Christmas on Main Street set for December 6, the Florida Americana Music Festival scheduled for February 4 through February 8 2026, CroomFest on February 6 and February 7 2026, and Art in the Park on March 14 and March 15 2026.
By focusing on events that encourage overnight stays the bureau is targeting impacts beyond one day attendance. Visitors who stay overnight typically spend on lodging food and retail and are more likely to engage with multiple local businesses. That spillover can be particularly valuable in Hernando County where a stronger shoulder season can support year round employment in hospitality and retail sectors.
The grant program also reflects an emphasis on stewardship. Aligning marketing support with stewardship principles signals a desire to promote events that respect natural and cultural resources and that can be sustained without degrading the county’s parks waterways and downtown assets. For community groups and event organizers this means securing support may hinge on demonstrating plans for visitor management waste reduction and protection of public spaces.
Local stakeholders including hoteliers restaurateurs and small business owners are likely to watch how marketing campaigns translate into room nights and spending. For example holiday events such as Christmas on Main Street can attract family groups who book nearby accommodations while multi day music festivals draw fans who travel longer distances and stay multiple nights. Event dates stretching from December through March cover a period when attracting out of county visitors reduces seasonality and helps stabilize revenues.
Tourism Manager Tammy Heon outlined the bureau’s dual goals of economic lift and community benefit as guiding the grant decisions. Organizers who received funding will now coordinate promotional efforts with the bureau to reach prospective visitors and to time publicity for key travel planning windows. For Hernando residents the grants mean a fuller calendar of marketed events and potential gains for local employers as visitor demand rises across the winter and early spring months.
