Injury Crash Blocks Broad Street in Brooksville, Disrupts Traffic
Broad Street was blocked just south of Martha Road after an injury crash in Brooksville, adding to a string of wrecks that have disrupted traffic on city roads this month.

An injury crash blocked Broad Street just south of Martha Road in Brooksville on April 21, creating a traffic snag on one of the city’s busier corridors. The roadblock came after a vehicle crash with injuries was reported through a Florida Highway Patrol notifier, and drivers in the area saw delays as the scene remained active.
Florida Highway Patrol said its live traffic crash and road condition report is updated every five minutes, giving motorists a near-real-time look at major incidents across the region. But the agency also notes that crashes inside city limits may not always appear on its map, since it is not common practice for FHP to work incidents inside Brooksville’s boundaries. For local drivers trying to navigate around trouble spots, the City of Brooksville also maintains a road-closure information page and an alert center for traffic disruptions.
The Broad Street blockage added another problem to a corridor that has already seen repeated wrecks this month. On April 13, a multi-vehicle crash at 2080 Broad St caused delays in Brooksville, putting more pressure on a roadway that already serves neighborhood traffic, commuters and local business access.

Other recent crashes have also strained travel in the city. On March 25, two people were hospitalized after a multi-vehicle crash on westbound Cortez Boulevard and Dorsey Smith Road. On April 1, a single-vehicle crash injured one person and brought down power lines, and on April 8, two people were transported to the hospital after another crash on Cortez Boulevard. Together, the incidents show a stretch of Brooksville roads that has faced repeated interruptions, with Broad Street now joining Cortez Boulevard and nearby intersections as a recurring trouble zone for Hernando County drivers.
