Hernando County deputies arrested Miguel Gonzalez Nunez, born July 16, 1996, after investigators linked him to multiple instances of illegal dumping of construction materials. Deputies responded on November 24, 2025 to dumped debris along Fort Dade Avenue and Citrus Way and later connected that scene to a separate call about a reckless driver at Mariner Boulevard and Cortez Boulevard.

The case began when a Good Samaritan observed a man leaving a large pile of discarded construction material by the roadside, called 911 and followed the vehicle while recording video evidence. Moments later deputies received another 911 call, this one from the suspect reporting that someone was following him. The caller did not disclose the dumping, and deputies soon identified the follower as the witness who had filmed the incident and who provided the video and additional information.

Investigators determined that Gonzalez Nunez operates a construction business under the name King Off Kings, and that damaged construction materials had been dumped at multiple locations around Hernando County. Deputies located additional illegally dumped debris that was positively linked to Gonzalez Nunez. During the investigation he denied dumping materials, but he could not explain why his vehicle was recorded directly in front of a litter pile or why the discarded debris matched materials found inside his vehicle.

Gonzalez Nunez was taken to the Hernando County Detention Center on a Conservation Environment charge for litter over 500 pounds and was given a bond of two thousand five hundred dollars. At booking federal immigration agents placed a detainer because he was found to be in the United States unlawfully.

For Hernando County residents, the case underscores the role of community reporting in stopping illegal dumping that creates safety risks, damages local waterways and shifts cleanup costs onto taxpayers.
