Local Man Arrested for Roadside Construction Dumping, Video Leads Case

Hernando County Sheriff s deputies arrested 29 year old Miguel Gonzalez Nunez following an investigation into illegal dumping of construction materials on November 24, 2025. Deputies responded to Fort Dade Avenue and Citrus Way after a 911 caller reported a large amount of discarded construction material along the roadside. The county later identified the suspect as Gonzalez Nunez, born July 16, 1996, and charged him with littering over 500 pounds under conservation and environment statutes. Bond was set according to the media release.

The case took a turn when a Good Samaritan who observed the dumping followed the vehicle and recorded the incident on video before calling 911. Deputies were simultaneously dispatched to Mariner Boulevard and Cortez Boulevard on a separate report of a reckless driver. That caller was the suspect, who reported being followed but did not disclose the dumping. Video and witness information provided by the Good Samaritan linked materials observed along Fort Dade Avenue and Citrus Way to items in Gonzalez Nunez s vehicle. Investigators determined he operates a construction business under the name King Off Kings. Gonzalez Nunez denied dumping the materials, but deputies made an arrest after reviewing the evidence.

The sheriff s office also noted that an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer was discovered on the suspect. The department thanked the Good Samaritan for preserving video evidence and urged residents to report illegal dumping to law enforcement.
