Object on southbound I-75 in Hernando County briefly blocks right lane
A debris call beyond mile marker 297 blocked the southbound right lane on I-75 in Hernando County as FL511 tracked crews clearing the hazard.

A roadside object briefly blocked the right lane on southbound Interstate 75 in Hernando County, just beyond mile marker 297, as Florida’s traffic system logged repeated updates while crews worked to clear the hazard.
FL511 said the right lane was blocked by an object on the roadway and later posted additional notices as the obstruction was removed. The incident was minor, but it landed on one of the county’s most important travel corridors, a north-south route used daily by commuters, freight haulers and drivers moving through Hernando County on Interstate 75 South.
FL511 is the Florida Department of Transportation’s official source for real-time traffic and travel information. The system covers congestion, crashes, construction, maintenance, closures and travel times on interstates and other major Florida roads, and it pushes updates through its website, mobile app, text alerts, social media and traffic-camera snapshots.

That makes the service especially useful on a corridor like I-75, where even a small debris problem can ripple into slower traffic and lane changes. FDOT says FL511 is one of the most effective ways drivers can stay informed during severe weather, evacuations and emergencies because it tracks roadway conditions on major evacuation routes and closures in real time.
For Hernando motorists, the message was simple: watch for lane changes, check for active alerts and expect the situation to evolve quickly when debris is reported on Interstate 75 South. Even a short-lived blockage beyond mile marker 297 showed how a single object in the roadway can disrupt a major highway before crews restore normal flow.
