A Spring Hill man convicted of a prior felony walked detectives through his own drug case Thursday, admitting in a post-Miranda interview that 96.6 grams of methamphetamine and illegal ammunition found inside his Coronado Drive residence both belonged to him.

Michael Lynch, 43, was arrested after the Hernando County Sheriff's Office Vice and Narcotics Unit, backed by the HCSO SWAT team, executed a search warrant at 12301 Coronado Drive following a multi-phase investigation built on multiple undercover operations that identified Lynch as a suspected drug dealer. Also detained at the home was Jada French, 22.

Beyond the methamphetamine, detectives recovered 1.2 grams of fentanyl and 143.7 grams of promethazine hydrochloride, a prescription sedative often misused alongside narcotics. Lynch told investigators the fentanyl belonged to French for personal use and acknowledged he held no valid prescription for the promethazine.

Lynch faces three counts of methamphetamine trafficking, three counts of possession of a structure for trafficking, and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. Judges issued no-bond status given the trafficking charges. French was charged with possession of fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Coronado Drive arrest fits a pattern of escalating enforcement by HCSO across the county. In September 2025, Sheriff Al Nienhuis announced Operation Kings Fall, a yearlong investigation tracing to October 2024 that he said dismantled "a deeply embedded and highly organized criminal organization" in Brooksville and produced 22 arrests. In November 2024, deputies had arrested nine people at a Welsh Street residence in Spring Hill after finding trafficking quantities of methamphetamine among 11 individuals present. January 2025 brought a simultaneous three-property sweep on Carter Road in Brooksville, conducted with Citrus County Sheriff's Office support, resulting in 10 arrests and seizure of meth, fentanyl, and a firearm. That November, a separate Spring Hill fentanyl trafficking operation netted six arrests, including Mark Andrew Hartwell, 54, a documented gang member with 18 prior felony convictions held without bond.

The scope of the problem extends well beyond Hernando County lines. Statewide coordinated operations have generated 169 investigations, more than 2,200 arrests, and the seizure of over 500 pounds of fentanyl, 3,000 pounds of methamphetamine, $5 million in cash, and 730 firearms. Florida recorded 7,827 drug overdose deaths in 2022, with fentanyl linked to more than 5,300 of them.

The investigation into the Coronado Drive distribution network remains ongoing.
