Spring Hill Library Celebrates 20 Years of Community Service in April

A balloon artist, six hours of free programming and two decades of community history converge at 9220 Spring Hill Drive on Saturday, April 18, when the Hernando County Library System celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Spring Hill Branch.

The public event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to all residents. The county is inviting patrons to come for library memories, activities, refreshments and a chance to reflect on how far the branch has come since it first opened to serve Spring Hill.

Over 20 years, the branch has grown into a neighborhood anchor for a wide range of programming. Children's storytimes, teen activities, STEM and NASA science events, volunteer tax assistance, technology classes and reading contests have all become part of a calendar that extends well beyond book lending. For many Spring Hill households, the branch also functions as a practical resource for job searches, college prep and early-childhood learning, with internet access and meeting rooms available at no cost.

The anniversary celebration will put both the branch's history and its current program lineup on display. The recurring Do NASA Science events, which bring hands-on science experiences to young learners, represent one example of how the library has built out its community role over the past two decades.
