Graham's personal best highlights West Holmes track effort in loss to Wooster
Maddax Graham’s 165-foot, 2-inch discus throw put his name higher on West Holmes’ all-time list, even in a 100-32 loss to Wooster. He also finished second in the shot put at 49-6¼.

Maddax Graham gave West Holmes the day’s clearest bright spot at Wooster, uncorking a personal-best discus throw of 165 feet, 2 inches that moved him up the Knights’ all-time list.
That effort came in a boys track and field dual the Knights lost 100-32 in Ohio Cardinal Conference action on April 21, a score that showed how steep the challenge was against Wooster. Even so, Graham’s work in the throwing ring stood out because it produced both a career best and a place on the school record board.
Graham backed up the discus mark with another strong showing in the shot put, where he finished second at 49-6¼. In a meet where West Holmes needed points wherever it could find them, those two results gave the Knights production in the power events and a measurable sign that one of their top throwers is still climbing.

For a program trying to build toward the second half of the spring, Graham’s afternoon mattered beyond a single dual-meet result. A personal best in the discus and a runner-up finish in the shot put point to steady progress in events that can swing team scores at conference meets and invitationals later in the season. They also give West Holmes a concrete benchmark as the Knights head deeper into April and toward the stretch where every inch and every point starts to count more.
The loss to Wooster left West Holmes with a lopsided final margin, but Graham’s marks offered something more durable than the scoreboard. They showed a thrower making upward movement in two events that reward consistency, strength and timing, and they gave the Knights a performance they can carry into the meets ahead.
