The Holmes County District Public Library's annual creative writing contest is open through April 28, with prizes available across five age categories spanning kindergarteners to adults.

Kids, teens and adults may submit original short stories or poetry, with or without illustrations. The library has divided the competition into five brackets: grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12 and adults 18 and older, with a prize going to the top entry in each group. Entry forms and contest rules are available at the Holmes County Central Library at 3102 Glen Drive in Millersburg and the East Branch Library at 4877 Olde Pump Street in Walnut Creek.

Weekly Storytime sessions for children ages 2-5 continue throughout April at both locations. Each session pairs stories, songs and rhymes with a required adult caregiver. The East Branch in Walnut Creek also runs a Family Story Time open to children as old as 9 alongside an adult; patrons can call 330-893-3464 for specific session dates and times.

A Little Learners Playgroup at the Central Library gives children up to age 5 a chance to build reading readiness and social skills with a caregiver present. Snacks are provided.

Tweens and teens ages 8 and up can attend the Doodle in 3D workshop, which puts 3D pens and templates in participants' hands to construct three-dimensional creations. The month also includes Paws to Read sessions, a Spring Cleaning donation drive and continuing adult book clubs at multiple branches.

To register for events or pick up writing contest entry forms, call the Central Library at 330-674-5972 or the East Branch at 330-893-3464.
