Holmes County libraries host book clubs, kids events through February
Holmes County District Public Library rolled out a full February calendar of programs - storytimes, a Winter Reading Program and book clubs - offering activities for children, teens and adults.

Holmes County District Public Library announced a slate of February programs across its branches, with offerings aimed at preschoolers, school-age children, teens and adults. The schedule highlights a Winter Reading Program that runs through Feb. 28, recurring storytimes at three branches, a weekly Little Learners Playgroup at the Central Library, Valentine’s make-and-take activities, a Paws to Read therapy-dog event tied to Clifford the Big Red Dog’s birthday, and two evening book-club discussions.
The Winter Reading Program is open to adults, teens and children up to age 12 and requires registration; reading logs must be submitted by Saturday, Feb. 28. The library’s social post reads: "WINTER READING PROGRAM Kids, Teens, & Adults! JANUARY 5TH FEBRUARY 28TH Read away those winter days for a chance to win cool prizes! Holmes." Program summaries note that "Participants can read books and earn prizes."
Children’s storytimes are scheduled at Killbuck, East Branch and Central Library locations. Killbuck hosts storytime at 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 3, 10, 17 and 24. East Branch lists 10:30 a.m. storytimes on Wednesdays Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25; the branch’s calendar also highlights a Family Story Time entry for Monday, Feb. 16 described for families with children ages 2-9 and instructs households to "Call 330-893-3464 or visit the East Branch Library." Central Library storytimes are set for 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 6, 13, 20 and 27. Many calendar entries show storytimes running 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Central Library’s Little Learners Playgroup meets at 11 a.m. on Feb. 6, 13, 20 and 27, with calendar entries listing the playgroup as 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Program copy states it "includes an hour of playtime with hands-on activities designed to promote reading and social skills. Snacks will be provided." The Central children’s room will also host Make & Take Valentine’s Cards from Feb. 9 through Feb. 14.
The district scheduled a Paws to Read session tied to a Clifford celebration; news materials state the event "will include a celebration of Clifford the Big Red Dog’s 63rd birthday" and place it Feb. 14 from 11 a.m. to noon. The library calendar contains entries on both Feb. 13 and Feb. 14 for therapy-dog reading sessions with Caring Therapy Canines, so readers are advised to confirm the final date.
Two adult book groups meet at Central Library on Feb. 24: a 1 p.m. discussion of The Forget-Me-Not Library by Heather Webber and a 6 p.m. discussion of All We Thought We Knew by Michelle Shocklee. Copies of both titles are available for checkout at the Central Library. The library calendar also shows an additional Feb. 20 entry for The Forget-Me-Not Library discussion; patrons should verify whether that is a separate session or a calendar duplication.
These programs provide routine, scheduled engagement that supports early literacy, intergenerational activity and community connection across Holmes County branches. For more information, visit the library or call 330-674-5972. For specific East Branch inquiries, call 330-893-3464. Confirming the Paws to Read date and the Feb. 20 book-club entry before attending is recommended; readers should register where required and note that reading-log deadlines and session times are firm through Feb. 28.
