Holmes County veterans, spouses can register for Christmas food vouchers

The Holmes County Veterans Service Office in Millersburg is taking registrations now for Christmas ham or turkey vouchers for veterans and eligible surviving spouses, with the vouchers set to be issued in early December. The office is at 75 E. Clinton St., Suite 104, and can be reached at (330) 674-4806 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

That summer sign-up gives the county months to sort eligibility and get the holiday help ready before Christmas arrives. For veterans, surviving spouses and households on fixed incomes, the voucher offers a concrete meal benefit at a time when holiday food costs can strain budgets.

The program fits into a broader set of services Holmes County already ties to veterans assistance.
