Millersburg Launches Monthly First Fridays Series With Downtown Recipe Tour
A recipe folder and a list of downtown stops were the only tickets needed for Millersburg's April 3 First Fridays debut, launching a monthly themed series that runs through at least June 2026.

A recipe folder and a printed list of participating businesses were all attendees needed to work through Millersburg's first First Fridays event, which ran from 5 to 8 p.m. on April 3 along South Washington Street and adjacent blocks in the city's historic core.
The Downtown Millersburg Recipe Tour, organized by Historic Downtown Millersburg in coordination with the Holmes County Chamber, asked guests to pick up both items at a central location before fanning out to each participating stop. At every business, they sampled food items and collected a printed recipe from the proprietor, assembling a folder that served as both a guided tour of the district and a keepsake to take home. The format required no admission fee and no stamp card, just a willingness to walk a few blocks and talk to the people behind the counter.
The response online suggested the tangible takeaway resonated. Historic Downtown Millersburg's Facebook page closed the evening with a post reading "Thank you to everyone who came out to the Downtown Recipe Tour last evening!! It was such a fun time!!" At least one commenter replied that she had missed it but "definitely want to buy one," indicating the recipe folders circulated enough buzz to outlast the event itself.
The businesses anchoring the tour sit within a district listed on the National Register of Historic Places and accredited by both Main Street America and Heritage Ohio, a combination that gives the monthly series built-in credibility for visitors already traveling to Holmes County for Amish Country destinations.
The Holmes County Chamber, which co-promoted April's event, described First Fridays as "a series of exciting and themed events happening in our downtown." The food-focused April edition is the first of at least three: the Downtown Art Walk takes the May 1 slot, also from 5 to 8 p.m., and a June First Friday is scheduled for June 5. The rotating themes give organizers a mechanism to draw repeat visitors each month while giving downtown merchants a different angle to feature seasonal inventory or new menu items.
Historic Downtown Millersburg and the Chamber are expected to track attendance, merchant feedback, and sales figures across the 2026 calendar as they build out the series.
