Millersburg Resident Sherry Logan Remembered for Community and Family
Sherry L. Logan, 65, of Millersburg died December 17 after a brief illness at Aultman Hospital, and a Celebration of Life will be held January 3 at Killbuck Methodist Church. Her passing highlights the central role local workers and church members play in Holmes County life, and raises questions about healthcare access and financial strain on families in rural communities.

Sherry L. Logan, 65, of Millersburg passed away December 17, 2025 at Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for January 3, 2026 at Killbuck Methodist Church. Ms. Logan worked for many years at Holmesville Market and Rodhe’s IGA and was an active member of Killbuck Methodist Church. She was known for her devotion to family and community.
Ms. Logan is survived by daughters Tabitha Cutright, Mindy Vaughn and her husband Mike, Jody Smail and her husband Matthew, and Lawanda Lacey. She also leaves numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, sisters Carol Mizer, Cleta Miller and Mozell Yoder, and a special friend Rick Starner. The family requests memorial contributions to be made to Alexander Funeral Home to help defray costs.
The loss reverberates through a county where small grocery stores and neighborhood churches are central social supports. Long time employees at local markets often serve as daily touch points for neighbors, and the absence of a familiar face can deepen the sense of loss for people who rely on these informal networks for companionship and practical help. The planned celebration at Killbuck Methodist Church will provide an opportunity for residents to gather, share memories and support Ms. Logan’s family.

Her death after a brief illness at a regional hospital underscores broader challenges facing rural residents, including reliance on hospitals outside the immediate community for acute care, and the financial pressure families face when health events require hospitalization. For many Holmes County households, medical bills and funeral expenses can create burdens that compound grief. Community responses such as memorial contributions and church based support help bridge gaps, but do not replace needed policy attention to rural healthcare access and economic supports for families coping with sudden loss.
Residents who wish to attend the Celebration of Life or contribute to the family may contact Alexander Funeral Home for arrangements. The gathering will serve both as a tribute to Ms. Logan’s life and as a reminder of the interdependence that sustains small communities.
