GIANT Arrests Four in Ironwood Drug Bust, Seizes Meth, Heroin, Fentanyl
Four people face drug charges after GIANT seized over a pound of meth and five ounces of heroin in Ironwood, with more arrests expected.

The Gogebic-Iron Area Narcotics Team executed a search warrant in Ironwood this week that netted four arrests and a substantial haul of illegal drugs, capping an investigation that traced a smuggling pipeline from southern Wisconsin into the western Upper Peninsula.
GIANT investigators had identified the trafficking operation in late 2025, determining that suspects were using rental vehicles to ferry methamphetamine and heroin from the Racine area into Gogebic and Iron County. The search warrant, executed Wednesday, produced more than one pound of methamphetamine, over five ounces of heroin including black tar heroin, fentanyl packaged for distribution, and related paraphernalia.
Authorities arrested four individuals connected to the operation. Edmund Hampton, 40, and Tyrrail Hall, 44, both of Racine, Wisconsin, face charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine, reflecting their alleged role in the supply end of the route. On the local receiving end, Megan Benton, 22, and Cynthia Sullivan, 55, both of Ironwood, were also taken into custody. Sullivan's charges include an additional count of possessing dangerous weapons, specifically metallic knuckles. Benton and Sullivan each face charges that include maintaining a drug house, evidence tampering, and resisting or obstructing law enforcement, alongside the drug counts.
All four were arraigned in Gogebic County District Court following their arrests.
The scope of the operation extends beyond Gogebic County. Investigators described distribution routes reaching into neighboring counties and across state lines, a pattern that has drawn sustained attention from GIANT as a multi-jurisdictional enforcement priority. The quantities seized, particularly the fentanyl packaged for street-level distribution, point to a supply chain capable of fueling serious public health consequences across the region.
Authorities indicated the investigation remains active and that additional arrests are expected as the case moves forward through Gogebic County courts.
