Wykons Defeat Westwood Patriots in Division 3 District Final Championship
West Iron County's postseason run ended 71-32 against Westwood in the Division 3 District Final, days after the Wykons' first win on Wright's court since 2018.

West Iron County's postseason run came to an abrupt halt on February 27 when the Westwood Patriots handed the Wykons a 71-32 defeat in the Division 3 District Final, a margin that underscored Westwood's dominance from start to finish. The Iron County Reporter documented the contest in a photo recap posted March 10, capturing the moments from what proved to be West Iron County's final game of the 2025-26 season.
The loss came just two days after one of the more satisfying wins of the Wykons' year. On February 25, West Iron County beat the Wright Red Devils 45-37, a result that pushed the program's record to 8-14 and marked the first time the Wykons had beaten Wright on the Red Devils' court since March 7, 2018. Wright, whose record fell to 11-11 with the defeat, has no further games scheduled.
The Wright victory carried real weight for a program that had struggled on the road against that opponent for nearly eight years. That momentum, however, could not carry over into the district final against a Westwood side that proved too strong by a margin of 39 points.
No box score, individual statistics, or coach and player quotes for either the Wright or Westwood games were available from the sources on record. The NFHS Network has a full replay of the West Iron County-Wright game available for those wanting to revisit that February 25 win.
The Wykons' postseason exit closes a season that had its high points despite a losing record. West Iron County finished having beaten Wright in a historically meaningful road environment and earning a Division 3 district final appearance, giving the program a benchmark to build on heading into next year.
