Alice Coyotes launch helmet fundraiser to support football team

Alice Coyotes are asking Jim Wells County to help “fill the helmet” for the football program as the team moves through Memorial Stadium’s rebuild and comes off a historic run on the field. The campaign gives parents, alumni, businesses and other supporters a simple way to back Alice High School football as it heads into another season.

The timing is hard to miss. Alice High School football said the Coyotes beat Roma 34-14 in what was supposed to be the final home game in Memorial Stadium before the stadium is demolished and rebuilt, sealing a second consecutive district championship. The back-to-back titles were the first for Alice in 39 years, a milestone that kept the program at the center of local attention well beyond the scoreboard.

That attention now sits alongside a major facilities project funded by a 2024 bond that covered the Memorial Stadium replacement and related athletic upgrades. Alice Independent School District’s stadium design update page shows the work moving through final design development, construction scheduling and demolition planning, while a 2026 local report said the replacement stadium is planned as a 6,000-seat facility. The old stadium’s final game came in November 2024, demolition was scheduled for Dec. 16, 2024, and groundbreaking for the new project took place May 12, 2025.

Memorial Stadium has also remained a point of civic pride during the transition. The venue advanced in Dave Campbell’s Texas Football statewide stadium showdown, and the Texas Turf Grass Association named Memorial Stadium Football Field of the Year, the sixth time an Alice field has received the honor. Those markers have kept the Coyotes visible across Alice and Jim Wells County, where football remains one of the clearest public symbols of school identity.

The helmet fundraiser folds into that larger picture. Rather than a single large check, the campaign is set up to gather smaller community contributions and turn them into direct support for the football program. For Alice, the ask arrives as the district balances a stadium rebuild, a recent championship streak and the practical costs of keeping the Coyotes equipped and competitive.
