Alice Lady Coyotes Send Three Powerlifters to THSWPA Girls State Meet

Payson Trejo, Aubrey Martinez, and Matieanna Trevino have officially packed their bags and are set to compete among the best lifters in Texas at the 2026 THSWPA Girls State Meet, scheduled for March 18–21 at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg. The three members of the Alice Lady Coyotes Powerlifting Team earned their spots through regional competition and are representing their school and community on the state stage.

The multi-day meet brings together top athletes from across Texas competing in divisions ranging from 1A through 6A. All qualifiers earned their state berths through regional competition, placing Trejo, Martinez, and Trevino among the top lifters in the state in their respective divisions.

Before departing for Edinburg, the Lady Coyotes had an opportunity to be sent off in style by their community. The team left from behind Alice High School along the roadside of the stadium Wednesday at 2 p.m., traveling to the central office before heading left on Main Street toward downtown Alice and then onto U.S. Highway 281 toward Edinburg. Supporters were encouraged to line up along the route and cheer the Lady Coyotes on as they began their journey south.

School officials and supporters say they are super proud of the athletes' dedication and hard work, which has earned them the opportunity to compete at the highest level of high school powerlifting in Texas.

As Trejo, Martinez, and Trevino prepare to step onto the platform at Bert Ogden Arena, the Alice community is wishing them the very best of luck as they represent the Lady Coyotes at the state meet.
