Kauai County opens Summer Fun registration May 13 for islandwide program
Summer care slots can vanish fast: Kaua‘i County opens Summer Fun registration at 8 a.m. May 13 for children ages 5 to 11 at seven island sites.

Parents trying to lock in summer child care for school-age children have a narrow window to act: Kaua‘i County will open online registration for its 2026 Summer Fun Program at 8 a.m. May 13, and enrollment will be limited.
The program is aimed at children ages 5 to 11 and will run from June 16 through July 25, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For working families, that schedule offers a full weekday option during the long break, with morning and afternoon snacks and drinks included and lunch left to parents or guardians.

The county set the fee at $75 per child, a price that stands out for families balancing multiple summer costs at once, from transportation to meals to work schedules. The same fee and age range have appeared in earlier county releases, showing that Summer Fun has become a recurring part of Kaua‘i’s summer childcare landscape rather than a one-time offering.
Sites are listed at Kekaha, Hanapepe, Kalāheo, Līhue, Kapaa, Anahola and Kōloa Elementary School, giving families islandwide access instead of concentrating registration in one part of the county. The county said site assignments may change depending on summer hires, so families should check details before registering.
County materials say the program will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis, which makes the opening hour especially important. Officials also advised families to create a profile before registration opens so they do not lose time filling out account information once the system goes live. Requests made as early as possible, the county said, will allow adequate time to fulfill them.
The county also said the notice is available in alternate formats, including large print, Braille or an electronic copy. A prior county release said anyone needing help accessing an account could contact the neighborhood center in their community, a reminder that registration support may be available for families who need it before slots are gone.
For many households, the May 13 opening is the difference between a planned summer and a scramble for care. With limited spaces, a modest fee and locations spread from Kekaha to Kōloa, the county’s annual program is likely to fill quickly once registration begins.
