North Idaho Pride Alliance Launches Scholarships for Region 1 High School Seniors
North Idaho Pride Alliance is offering two $1,500 scholarships to Region 1 seniors, with an April 1 deadline, marking the group's 10th anniversary.

Marking its 10th anniversary, the North Idaho Pride Alliance announced two $1,500 scholarships for Region 1 high school and home-school seniors, with an application deadline of April 1.
The awards, announced March 20, are open to seniors planning to attend a college, university or trade school during the 2026-27 academic year. NIPA described the initiative as fulfilling one of the organization's founders' earliest dreams, a goal the group has carried since its inception a decade ago.
The scholarships arrive against a backdrop NIPA characterizes in stark terms. In its announcement, the organization said LGBTQ+ people in North Idaho are navigating "an increasingly hostile and isolating environment," where "many are being pushed out of public spaces, rendered invisible and denied basic human rights."
NIPA Executive Director Dr. Sarah Lynch framed the awards as something beyond a financial transaction. "In this climate, our Pride Scholarship aims to offer something too many young people struggle to find: hope, affirmation, opportunity, and tangible support," Lynch said. "This scholarship is more than financial assistance. It is a message to LGBTQIA2S+ youth that they are valued, they are seen and they deserve a future filled with possibility."
NIPA noted that for LGBTQ+ youth in rural and under-resourced communities like those across North Idaho, access to supportive pathways into higher education remains limited. The organization said the scholarship program is designed to help address that gap directly.
