ADOT Lane Restrictions on SR 72 Near Bouse Begin May 28 for Sealant Work
SR 72 near Bouse drops to one lane May 28 as ADOT crews apply oil-based sealant between Joshua Drive and Junction 60, with a 16-foot width limit and 35 mph speed reduction.

Lane restrictions will narrow State Route 72 near Bouse to a single lane on three separate days beginning May 28, as Arizona Department of Transportation maintenance crews apply oil-based sealant to preserve the roadway between Joshua Drive and Junction 60 at milepost 49.9.
The restrictions run from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4. Flaggers and a pilot truck will direct motorists through the work zone during those windows. ADOT has set a 16-foot vehicle width restriction for the affected segment and reduced the posted speed limit to 35 mph. Delays are likely on all three work days.
Drivers traveling SR 72 in that corridor should plan for additional travel time and follow all posted signs and traffic control devices. The 16-foot width restriction is particularly relevant for wide-load agricultural or recreational vehicles common in La Paz County, as vehicles exceeding that measurement will not be permitted through without authorization.
The sealant work is distinct from a separate pavement rehabilitation project ADOT began in August 2025 on a different stretch of SR 72, between mileposts 20 and 30, also in the Bouse area. That project targeted pavement repair rather than preservation sealant, and involved temporary driveway closures of roughly 45 minutes to an hour along adjacent turnouts to allow asphalt curing.
