Parker households will get one free morning to clear out tree trimmings, brush, old furniture, appliances, evaporative coolers and other bulky household debris, but paint, motor oil, tires and refrigerators or air-conditioning units that have not been evacuated will be turned away. The town is offering the service as a money-saving alternative to private haulaway, where one Parker-area junk remover advertises pricing starting at $79 for a single bulky item.

The Spring Clean Sweep will run from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, at Western Park on 8th Street between Chemehuevi Avenue and Desert Avenue. Republic Services and town staff will be on hand to direct residents through the load-in process, and the town is requiring a current Town of Parker water utility statement or Arizona Public Service statement as proof of residency. Commercial dumping will not be allowed, and residents are being told to call River Cities Waste at 928-669-2559 if they are unsure whether an item will be accepted before they make the trip.

For Parker, a cleanup day like this is about more than clearing clutter. The 2020 Census counted 3,417 people in Parker, and La Paz County had 16,557 residents, which means a single organized disposal day can have an outsized effect in a small Colorado River community where abandoned couches, brush piles and broken appliances can quickly become visible neighborhood blight. Arizona’s environmental agency says illegal dumping can hurt property values, pose health and wildlife risks, and carry penalties of up to $15,000 per violation as a class two misdemeanor. By giving residents a legal place to unload debris before summer heat and wind make piles harder to manage, the town is also reducing the odds that junk ends up in alleys, washes or vacant desert spaces. The town has scheduled reminder posts for April 15, April 29 and May 6 to keep the one-day window in view.
