Oxford lineman Ford Wade earns invite to Military Appreciation Bowl

Ford Wade’s invite to the Military Appreciation Bowl put an Oxford High offensive lineman on one of high school football’s biggest stages, a national recognition that also says something about how the Chargers are developing linemen early in their careers.

The Military Appreciation Bowl is part of U.S. Military Appreciation Week and Bowl Week at The Star in Frisco, the Dallas Cowboys’ practice and event complex. The 2025 game was set for Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025, at Ford Center with kickoff at 1 p.m., and the event describes itself as America’s biggest high school football all-star game. Athletes in Bowl Week showcase events receive a game ticket with registration, along with access to opening ceremonies, bracket and pool play, awards and a sideline pass to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Wade is listed by recruiting services as a 2027 interior offensive lineman from Oxford, Mississippi. One recruiting profile put him at 6-foot-3 and 295 pounds, while another listed him at 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds. He has played both tackle and center for Oxford High, a versatility that has helped shape the way college recruiters view him, and he also plays baseball for the Chargers.

That blend of size and position flexibility has already drawn attention beyond Lafayette County. Wade committed to Ole Miss on April 15, 2026, after holding offers from Nebraska and Navy. Recruiting coverage had also pointed to his interior-line potential, and one report said more than 45 colleges were expected at a Jackson State and Southern Elite Mega Series MegaCamp he planned to attend. Hudl listed him at No. 68 and showed 1,535 public highlight views, another sign that his film was circulating well beyond Oxford.

For Oxford High, Wade’s Bowl invite offers a clear snapshot of what the program can produce when a young lineman develops quickly and gets seen by national evaluators. A hometown player with SEC commitment status, size for the next level and enough flexibility to move between tackle and center, Wade has become a concrete example of the Chargers’ front-line pipeline. If his upward track continues, Oxford fans will have reason to watch his name stay in the recruiting conversation long after this invite.
