Oxford Police Arrest Two Suspects in Cyberstalking, Burglary Cases
A cyberstalking suspect was arrested in Clay County on an Oxford warrant, while a second man faces burglary charges from a March domestic disturbance near Private Road 3151.

Social media threats traced to an Anderson Road apartment complex led Oxford police to arrest a West Point man in a neighboring county four months after the investigation began. In a separate case, a domestic disturbance call on the city's south side produced a burglary charge against an Oxford resident.
Jordan Rupert, 24, faces charges including cyberstalking, email threats, and harassment after the Oxford Police Department opened its investigation on Dec. 2, 2025. Officers built their case and obtained a warrant that reached beyond Oxford's jurisdiction; the Clay County Sheriff's Office then arrested Rupert on OPD's behalf. He has been held on the Oxford charges following initial proceedings. OPD publicly thanked Clay County for its cooperation in executing the out-of-jurisdiction arrest.
The second case began as a domestic disturbance call on March 20 at an apartment complex near Private Road 3151. Investigators developed probable cause to charge Shaun Thomas, 46, of Oxford, with burglary of a dwelling. Thomas was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center and later appeared before a municipal judge.
The Rupert case reflects both the investigative timeline digital crimes can require and the coordination modern law enforcement depends on when suspects leave the originating jurisdiction. The four months between the December complaint and the April arrest mark the evidentiary groundwork OPD assembled before seeking the warrant, with Clay County officers completing the physical arrest once it was issued.
Both cases carry significant procedural steps ahead: bond hearings, formal charges to be filed by prosecutors, and scheduled court appearances. Municipal-court dockets and Lafayette County booking records will reflect those developments as they unfold.
